Baseball Celebrity Portrait
I composed this painting of Tom Henke, "The Terminator" who was the closer for the World Series winning Toronto Blue Jays in 1991, using a number of photos supplied by The Toronto Blue Jays as reference. Using the transparent quality of watercolor to my advantage, I painted the three overlapping images to produce the effect of motion as this incredible pitcher followed through his typical 92 mph fastball. I painted him as I visualized him on the pitcher's mound! To my eyes, Tom Henke was a blur of movement and a flash of mementary detail against a sea of Blue Jays fans.
The original watercolor painting has been autographed by Tom Henke and clearly shows the Toronto Blue Jays logo. Like all my original works, this painting is framed to museum quality.
