Maggie and her owner used to love their walks when she was younger. They loved each others company and there were shared adventures and loving communication. When Maggie, a beautiful old Basset Hound, grew too old to walk on her own, her wonderful owner would take her for walks in a wheelbarrow so that they could continue to enjoy this precious time together. This sweet gentle loving dog will always be remembered by Lynn who commissioned a watercolor portrait of this tender fleeting moment to be preserved in this work of art.
When it comes to painting portraits of pets and animals, nothing has revolutionized the process like the invention of the camera. The natural movement of an animal can easily be frozen in time in a photograph and the photo makes a fantastic reference of anatomical details and physical attributes of the animal while in action which would be very difficult to capture with the eye while looking at the live moving animal. With the aid of modern technology, today's artist can paint action-packed detailed images from photographs to produce contemporary realistic animal and pet portraits.

The dog, what can you say, is very cute and adorable - especially eyes expression, but it only a part of this amazing work. The old wheel barrow is the vital piece which links the background and set subtly the whole atmosphere of this painting. I just love the way you lovingly preserved the age of weathered wood and the rusted wheel. Colours are strong and vivid and highlight make this work dimensional. Oh how I yearn to learn to paint like that.
