Using an indoors photo supplied by family as reference for details, I painted the girl's natural expression and facial features in realistic detail. From my imagination, I painted her wind-blown hair in wisps of light and washed color into the impressionistic background with back-lighting on the flowing whispy hair. This creates the sensation of movement while still keeping the focus on the face.
