This watercolor portrait of Sarah was commissioned by her parents. My portraits are hand-painted original paintings done by looking at a photograph of the subject as if the subject were sitting in my studio. You can supply me with photos of your child or I can take them for you. Vibrant, energetic action paintings with movement and life are my specialty; however, I enjoy painting portraits, especially of children, even when there is no movement involved.
I am very comfortable working in either oil, acrylic or watercolor. Before I begin a watercolor painting, like the one shown here, I usually complete a detailed drawing on the paper canvas in order that the proportions of the subject are the same as those in the photo. This is difficult to change in watercolor so I make sure the drawing is correct before I begin the painting.
This watercolor painting features three children playing on a bale of hay.
