Painting Of Child With Teddy Bears
Given human facial expressions, the teddy bear family on this little girl's window sill appears to be reacting to the interruption of its "Still" Life. A young child playing outside has decided to grab her favorite teddy bear from a farmhouse window sill where it has been resting as part of a collection. I tried to add a little humor and life into this still life scene.
This very detailed watercolor painting took a few weeks to complete. White paint is never used in a true watercolor painting - the white paper canvas is used as the white in a painting. In order to paint the white curtains of this watercolor scene, I first laid out a detailed pencil drawing on the paper so that I knew exactly where the white areas of the painting would be. I then painted the shadows and shades of the lace curtain. Then I used a technique called negative painting in which the background that you see behind the curtain was painted in painstaking detail, leaving the curtain itself untouched.

I still amazes me Hanne! I wanted to say as well that I love the way the teddies seem to be alive and active as the little brown one peeking in from behind the curtain and the white on is looking up at the little on climbing on her head as she holds on tenderly to the little pink one on her leg. and what a whimsical look the one in the center has! All just so fantastic!
