Sailboat In Stormy Seas Painting
This commissioned oil on canvas painting took me several weeks to complete. The painting was commissioned by a company in England who will hang the painting in their president's office. My challenge was to paint an oil painting which would represent their company. They requested a sailing yacht with a captain piloting his ship through a storm on stormy seas with an able crew working as a team. It was also requested that I include the red ensign for ships. After drawing and submitting three different pencil sketches of different ships and views, this is the version that they chose.
My composition was based on several reference photos (at least 50) to compose the details of the boat, my many years of experience of studying light, shadows and reflections and mostly on my imagination. I began with a vision and allowed divine guidance to direct every brushstroke. As with each of my paintings, I put my heart and soul into its creation.
