My husband, Steve, and I have been working on this bear sculpture project over winter. It is carved from a huge willow tree log that came down in a recent storm in our back yard. This is our third carving from that same willow tree. We managed to get the raw log uphill to our back patio where we worked on it during freezing cold -20C degrees at times. Like the other two bear sculptures from this log, Steve carved the basic large cuts with his big chain saw and I carved the details with small chainsaw, grinder and carving tools. It is 33"h. x 36"w. x 32"deep.
Right now, it is sitting in our ground floor office on a cart. The two of us together can't lift this heavy sculpture. We will have to wait for family help to bring it outside uphill and inside upstairs where it will sit by our fireplace.
