This is an oil painting by my dad, Otto Werner (1923 - 1991) of an Ontario backcountry trail in Autumn 1952. I was three years old at the time. Although money was scarce and there were many hardships after immigrating to Canada in February of that year, my parents were thrilled to be in Canada and become Canadian citizens. The language barrier was strong in those early years but clearly my dad expressed his love for this country in his paintings.
