These gorgeous daisy-like flowers in our rock garden brightened my morning walk to the river as the rain tapered to a light drizzle. The pristine silence after a fresh summer rain encourages your thoughts to wander and these delightful sunshine flowers reminded me of a marvelous romantic song (words and lyrics by Jud Strunk). The chorus goes: "I'll give you a daisy a day, dear, I'll give you a daisy a day. I'll love you until the rivers run still and the four winds we know blow away."

Coreopsis 'Moonbeam' is a beautiful dainty perennial that shows off an almost constant display of lemon-yellow daisy-shaped flowers all summer long, especially if you shear the plant back by a few inches after the heavy flushes of bloom. 'Moonbeam' and other varieties of coreopsis make good cut flowers and can also be grown in large container gardens.
