I was commissioned to paint this wonderful Oklahoma country home in watercolor as a Birthday gift from a husband to his wife. Unfortunately, this beautiful home was destroyed by fire. There were only three photos of different areas and views of the home that I could use as reference. It was quite the challenge to compose this painting from those photos and I had to extrapolate and guess at a few details. I added cloud shadows to the lawn and winding laneway, eliminated a concrete pad in the foreground and added a reflecting puddle to the long driveway for interest and to bring some life to the watercolor. Their beautiful country home is now being rebuilt.

Hanne, This is exquisite....very well done under the circumstances. It is kind of ironic that I had given my parents a painting of their home of 32 years in Ash Canyon near Sierra Vista, Arizona. Sadly, their home was completely destroyed by the Sierra Vista "Monument Fire" in June of 2011. Among the destruction were paintings by my Grandfather Willmarth, my Grandma Bokowski and some of my work!.
