Early morning light reflects shades of pink, yellow and blue in this delicate white Peony. The amount of time it takes to paint such nuances and intricacies of one little flower in my garden - the shades of white of the petals, the stamen, the dew drops - makes me appreciate the complexity of nature. The Peony bloom does not last very long; we have only a short time to admire this perennial each year. I began this watercolor painting the day I took the photo of the flower. Sadly, by the time I had completed the painting, the bloom had expired.
