This painting of four friends boating on Lake Muskoka in a classic wooden motorboat cruiser with a powerful inboard engine, known affectionately as a "Muskoka Woody" was commissioned by a client (one of the boaters) who supplied a number of photos of the boat and separate photos of the cottage and dock which he also wanted in the painting. The lighting source in each photo was different and had to be adjusted in order to unify the painting. The glistening reflection of the sun on the side of the boat is reflected in the water, as is the beautifully maintained, varnished and polished classic wooden boat. The browns and oranges of the motorboat are a vibrant contrast to the deep shadows, blues and greens of the water and create the drama.
