" It is a beautiful sentiment to give a hand-painted pet portrait as a gift or have a cherished animal companion painted as a memorial. My pet and wildlife portraits are painted in my studio from photos. I usually complete a detailed drawing of my subject directly on the canvas before I begin to paint. I look to the photo for accuracy of details of the action or movement as if the animal were in my studio."
