"Contemporary portraiture, like today's lifestyle, is becoming less formal and rigid. I prefer to paint a subject in a natural unpretentious composition. My informal portraits are characterized by impressionistic backgrounds and realistic detailed subjects. I focus on painting details of a focal point of the subject, blurring the background to create the illusion of movement just as in reality, where the eye will focus on a subject and the background becomes obscure in peripheral vision."
