"My love for action and fascination with capturing a flash of movement in this motionless art form should be evident in my sports paintings and action portraits. Inevitably, this movement is carried over into my landscape paintings - wispy clouds, a momentary stream of light in an illusive sunset, sweeping trees. Even my still life paintings, however, will show a hint of movement - the subtle rising of steam from a cup of hot chocolate on a frosty morning, the flicker of a gossamer curtain in a fresh morning breeze, a raindrop trickling down a steamy window pane. Where there is no actual movement portrayed in the painting, I try to effect the flowing movement of the composition itself. Life is ever changing; we may try to capture a moment in time on a canvas but the moment is fleeting. Time will not stand still - why, then, should there be no movement in the painting? The very flowing nature of watercolor makes this a natural process. This work for me is revitalizing, refreshing, uninhibited."
